11 Mar Haslers Foundation’s annual quiz raises thousands of pounds for charity
The best business brains from across the South East have competed against one another in the seventh annual Haslers Foundation Charity Quiz.
Held at Chigwell Hall, the event saw 120 people turn out to raise money for the Haslers Foundation – the in-house charity of Loughton-based Haslers Chartered Accountants.
Woodford Green Athletics Club were the champions of the night and retained the winning trophy for a second year running.
The quiz, which included a dinner and raffle, helped to raise £5,400 for the firm’s in-house charity foundation, which has supported many local causes some of whom attended on the night including the Frank Charles Give a Gift Appeal, Dream Factory, Haven House, SNAP Charity, St Clare Hospice and MCA Trust.
As well as being offered the chance to take part, several local businesses also sponsored each round of the quiz, which helped to cover the costs of hosting the event. Those to support the event this year included SRM Wealth Management, Aquabridge Law, DAC Beachcroft, Wiseman Lee, Utilize and Bancroft Ltd.
Jon O’Shea, Chairman of Haslers Chartered Accountants and its Foundation, said: “We had another fantastic turnout again this year and we were astonished at how much this event helped us to raise.
“None of this would have been possible without the support of the businesses that sponsored the event and took part, so a huge thanks must go to them. The money raised at these events makes a massive difference to local causes.
“Also, a huge thank you goes to those businesses that generously donated gifts to our raffle, which helped with our fundraising efforts. Thanks to Haslers Partners and Staff, Hightower Wealth Management, Lloyds Bank, Embryonex, Champagne & Gift Company, Zee & Co, Loughton Florist, The Olive Tree, Ches, Mode Beauty, Perky Blenders, 8 Rocks, Office Needs, Influence, Premier Print, Forest Casualwear, Wingshack, and Molens.
“Quizzers were asked to sketch a portrait of the Quiz Master, Jon and take a photo and upload to their Instagram page and tag @haslersUK where extra points were awarded for the most creative sketches.
“Finally, thank you to Ben’s Magic for coming along and entertaining our guests during the intervals.”
To date, Haslers’ charity has donated more than £180,000 for local community groups and causes.
