23 Mar Harlow’s Spring Clean gets underway
Harlow’s Spring Clean is underway after council staff, councillors and staff from HTS and Veolia carried out the first litter pick on Friday (22 March 2019) as part the Great British Spring Clean.
In just over an hour and a half more than 25 bags full of litter were collected from part of the cycle track next to Staple Tye shopping centre, parts of Southern Way and from the Long Banks, Brockles Mead and Shawbridge housing estates.
The cleaning teams included senior managers from the Council and HTS and Councillors from both sides of the chamber and the Chair of Harlow Council, Councillor Maggie Hulcoop.
People across the country are taking part in Keep Britain Tidy’s annual clean up campaign which runs this year until 23 April 2019. Over 50 community litter picks are taking place in Harlow this month all supported by the Council who are providing litter picking equipment and bags.
The local clean up events will be in addition to the normal day-to-day work HTS does cleaning up the town.
The council hopes the campaign will help increase pride in the town.
