05 Mar Harlow SOUP event raises £328 for homeless charity Streets2Homes
Harlow SOUP event took place at Phoenix Live raising £327.21 for homeless charity Streets2Homes.
The debut Harlow SOUP event saw four Harlow based community projects pitch their ideas, including theatre charity Livewire, Public Pianos, Streets2Homes and Parndon Wood Nature Reserve.
After sampling the homemade soups on offer, attendees voted for their favourite pitch and the project with the most votes was announced as Streets2Homes who were then awarded with the over £300 raised from the “pay what you can” entrance fee.
Over 80 people attended the first event, which also featured live music from local Harlow musicians, Sam and Ronan from local band Don’t Worry and the Valaitis Brothers.
Harlow SOUP organiser Elliot Wollen said: “The first Harlow SOUP event really highlighted the appetite we have in Harlow to help others and come together as a community. The event was a great success, with an incredible turnout and a positive response. We just can’t wait for the next one!”
Streets2Homes will be using the funds to refurbish their toilets and will feedback to the community about their progress via the Harlow SOUP Facebook page and at the next event in May.
The next Harlow SOUP event will take place on Thursday 24th May with the venue to be confirmed.
