One thing we can all agree on is that nothing shouts democracy louder like the chime of a good clock and Big Ben is the best and possibly loudest landmark in the world championing democracy.
Last night reports surfaced suggesting that MP’s were not told Big Ben would be silenced for up to four years when they approved the scheduled £29 million renovation project of the Houses of Parliament.
Harlow MP, Robert Halfon last night took to Twitter to weigh in on the row telling his followers “Great chimes of Big Ben stopped 4 years at stroke of bureaucrats pen.Wrong decision.Iconic to Parliament,GB&World”
Under current schedules Big Ben won’t chime again until work completed on Elizabeth Tower in 2021z
