29 May Harlow Council to review old business grants criteria and applies for more Government funding
Harlow Council’s new finance cabinet portfolio holder, Councillor Russell Perrin, has today announced that he is reviewing the additional restrictions grants criteria used under the previous administration.
Councillor Perrin’s announcement follows the council applying to the government for a further £568,582 in additional restriction grant funding. These grants are to support businesses that are not covered by other financial schemes or where additional funding is needed.
Councillor Russell Perrin, Portfolio Holder for Finance and Governance, said: “The new government additional restriction grants funding will be used to support businesses that need help during the recovery from the pandemic. I am currently, along with the council’s finance team, reviewing the criteria previously used to allocate this grant to ensure that it supports those businesses who need it most in this phase of the pandemic. That was a pledge we made and one we are keeping. This new council is determined to ensure that businesses in our town get the help they need, because it is essential to the livelihoods of the people they employ and of critical importance to our town’s economic recovery.”
