21 Oct #Halloween: Introducing Essex’s spooky special ghost train
There will be thrills, spills and ghouls aplenty on Essex’s spooky special ghost train: Essex and South Suffolk’s Community Rail Partnership’s fun packed Halloween Train.
Running on Sunday 30 October, the spooktacular ride along the Mayflower line will include spine-chilling decorations, a name the ghost competition, fancy dress prizes, yucky dips and a guess the weight of the pumpkin competition.
The train leaves Manningtree Station at 4.26pm and 5.26pm and runs to Harwich and back. Tickets for the Halloween Train cost £3.00 for children and £5.00 for adults.
Cllr Eddie Johnson, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport said: “This train will be spooky fun for all the family, it is truly a ghost train with a difference and the perfect way to treat your children to a Halloween surprise – it will be an experience they won’t forget.
“These events are the perfect way to encourage young people to use our branch lines. While they are having fun the next generation of commuters are learning how easy it is to get from A to B while leaving the car at home.”
Paul Oxley, Stakeholder Manager, Greater Anglia, said: “We’re delighted to have a special event train running on the Mayflower line once again. These have proven very popular in the past and last year’s Halloween train was a great success. We look forward to welcoming the many families joining us for a fun day out on the Halloween train.”
