13 Jan Half a million pound investment brings improvements for Saffron Walden
OPTICIANS will be celebrating the re-opening of their store with Saffron Walden Mayor, Heather Asker, following a major £500,000 expansion.
The Specsavers store, located on Hill Street, will open its doors after a six-week expansion which saw a doubling of testing rooms and two designated audiology testing rooms.
The grand opening will begin at 10am on 16 January and will have cake cutting, ribbon-cutting and live singing. This will be at the end of the market that runs every Tuesday and Saturday.
As well as a refresh, the store has taken on 10 new team members – dispensing managers, customer service advisors and new lab technicians.
Suba Thiara, director at the store, says: ‘We’re very excited about the expansion of our store and the team. I am passionate about hiring locally and being able to support the community.
We are proud to welcome our new team members, who are all local to the Saffron Walden area.’
The expansion also includes the adding of the store space next door to create a crescent-shaped store, with one side being clinical and other being retail.
Elliot Kemp-Smith, optometry director, says: ‘We are looking forward to celebrating this huge store expansion and change with the people of Saffron Walden.
The store will be running as normal for the day, but there will be an opportunity to pop in to see us and get a slice of cake.’
Anyone unable to visit the Specsavers Saffron Walden store unaccompanied due to disability or illness may be eligible to receive care at home via a team of mobile opticians. The Specsavers home visits service covers more than 90% of the UK.
