Great Baddow Fire Station to hold open day this weekend

16 Sep Great Baddow Fire Station to hold open day this weekend

Great Baddow Fire Station is on the look-out for new on-call firefighters, who are a vital part of today’s fire and rescue service.

The call comes as part of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s countywide on-call firefighter recruitment campaign.

An on-call firefighter is ‘on call’ to respond to a range of emergencies and engages with their community.

They have everyday lives and jobs, until the pager sounds – then they become professional firefighters, on the front line, saving lives.

On-call firefighters are paid for their commitment and they receive thorough training and learn all they need to know about emergency situations.

To become an on-call firefighter you must live or work within five minutes of Great Baddow Fire Station, be over 18 and be physically fit, though support will be given to help you meet fitness requirements.

Adrian Richardson, Station Manager for Great Baddow, said:

“We are looking for highly motivated residents from Great Baddow, who would like to make a difference to the local community.

“If you like to be part of an effective team, are community minded and are looking for a rewarding new challenge, this is the role for you”.

Great Baddow Fire Station is holding an open day on Saturday 21 September between 10am – 4pm and anyone interested in finding out more about becoming an on-call firefighter can speak to us on the day.
