Grants totalling more than £8,000 will be handed out to community groups and organisations to help them deliver projects benefiting borough residents.

Basildon Council has approved five applications in the final round of the 2017/18 Grants to Organisations Fund.

Art with Heart CIC and Parents4Parents CIO will receive £1,124 to hold a special day-long ADHD Parent Support Training event to coincide with World Mental Health Day.

A £1,677 grant will be handed to Parents 1st to fund free workshops equipping parents with skills and training to cope during an infant emergency.

Community Rainbow Genies, which run a wellbeing space at the Laindon Centre, have been awarded £1,996.67 funding to run a 12-week mental health programme.

An application from Langdon Hills Estate Residents Association for £1,953.40 to fund a gardening club for young people and work to improve planting in the area has also been approved.

Radford Park Residents Association have been awarded £1,609.12 to purchase equipment for community events and to enable the launch of a social club for older people.

The Grants to Organisations Fund is open to applications in three rounds throughout each financial year. Groups can receive up to £2,000 towards projects which will benefit the local community.
