Give Your Local Hero The Recognition They Deserve

20 Jan Give Your Local Hero The Recognition They Deserve

Do you know somebody in your community who goes the extra mile to support vulnerable people, prevent crime and make their communities safer? Then why not nominate them for the PCC’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Community Safety Award?

The process is simple to complete, and winners will be recognised at the PCC Annual Conference on 14th March 2017. The deadline for nominations is Monday February 20th so make sure your local heroes are recognised in the way they deserve!

Exceptional people who have gone above and beyond to keep their community safe will be honoured at the second annual awards ceremony of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex. The Outstanding Contribution to Community Safety award aims to recognise individuals, volunteers and groups across the county who have delivered a project or scheme to improve the safety of those around them.

PCC Roger Hirst said: “Each and everyday people across Essex go out of their way to make a positive contribution to their communities. Whether that is through supporting vulnerable people, helping to prevent crime or making our communities safe there are a lot of people going above and beyond to keep their communities safe. I want these awards to recognise those people, to help celebrate the contribution they make and support them in making a difference.”

The winner of this year’s award will be announced at the PCC’s annual conference at the Chelmsford City racecourse on March 14th 2017. As well as one overall winner two further nominees will be highly commended.

Winners will receive a financial donation to their project, organisation or work, to further support the continuation of the important contribution they are making. The winning area of work or project will receive £500, with those highly commended receiving £250 each. This money must be reinvested back into the work which is being recognised. If this is not possible winners will be asked to name a charity of their choice related to the winning area of work where the money will be invested on their behalf.

Nominations are open to individuals and teams from across the statuary, community, voluntary and business sectors, where an outstanding contribution has been made to improve community safety, prevent crime or protect vulnerable people. Nominations can be submitted by anyone who has benefited from or witnessed the efforts of the nominees and their work, including managers, colleagues, or members of the public.
The nomination form is simple to complete, and can be downloaded from the PCC website here: PCC-Awards-Nomination-form-2016-17
