03 May Garden lovers invited to enjoy a Taste of Chelsea right here in Essex
On 22nd May Chelsea will once again play host to the UK’s most popular flower show, attracting visitors from across the globe. But for those who can’t make it to the real thing, Essex’s very own Chelsea Gold winner Beth Chatto is hosting a week of Chelsea-themed events at her gardens in Elmstead Market, near Colchester.
“A Taste of Chelsea” will run at the Beth Chatto Gardens throughout the week of 21st – 27th May, and will be a celebration of the Chelsea Flower Show, as well as Beth’s very own success at the show. Beth Chatto first exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower show in the 1970s, and went on to win 10 consecutive gold medals in the years that followed.
David Ward, Garden and Nursery Director, and one of the team that helped Beth create her award-winning exhibits at the flower show, will be reconstructing a unique Chelsea-style garden within the grounds of the Beth Chatto Gardens, available for visitors to see from 21st May.
As well as behind-the-scenes tours and talks, there are several unmissable events taking place throughout the week, for anyone who has an interest in gardening, plants, or Beth’s incredible relationship with them.
There will also be a chance to unwind in the grounds of the Beth Chatto Gardens on the evening of 25th May. The Chasin’ Rainbows Band will entertain with traditional jazz and popular music from the 1920s-1980s while guests enjoy a three-course dinner overlooking the beautiful Gravel Gardens.
Anyone wishing to attend one of these special events can reserve their place via the website www.bethchatto.co.uk/events
