20 Sep Fun for all at Brightlingsea Sports Centre open day
Visitors to Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Brightlingsea Sports Centre were given a chance to try something new during the centre’s open day on Saturday.
A variety of activities from trampolining to boxing and cheerleading to a bouncy castle were on offer for all ages.
A Macmillan Coffee Morning was held alongside the event and the proceeds will be counted up with other leisure centres’ events across the Tendring District over the next few weeks.
All other donations on the day went towards local charity Porridge and Pens raising just over £70.
Porridge and Pens works with some of the poorest children in Kumasi, which lies in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, and the charity provides ongoing grants and support to some of the poorest schools and orphanages in the region.
Cllr Mick Skeels Snr, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said it was a great day of free activities for residents and an opportunity to try something new while supporting charities.
