A number of free hands-on sessions for children and families centred around science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) are being held in the town starting next week.

Sessions will be taking place at:

Harlow Town Park, Bandstand area, between 11am and 4pm on Tuesday 20 August and Wednesday 21 August
Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens, between 10am and 3pm on Thursday 22 August and Friday 23 August.

Run in partnership with the Cambridge Science Centre, the sessions are free, interactive and aimed at getting children interested and engaged in these important subjects.

The sessions are a result of a budget agreement in February, where there was cross-party support for council funding to be used to provide hands on STEAM learning sessions around the town. These will be the first events to be held.

Councillor Tony Durcan, portfolio holder for economic growth, “We welcome these new sessions as a fun and interactive way to make science and other key subjects, interesting and accessible to children. This is about getting children enthusiastic and involved and helping them to raise their own aspirations so they have the skills and confidence to take up opportunities in the future that the Enterprise Zone, Harlow Science Park and Public Health England’s relocation to the town will offer.
