02 Nov Four locals helped with re-recording of the Beatles’ classic
by Matthew Martino
Four Essex locals where among the talented group of young singers who recorded the Beatles’ Strawberry Fields Forever at Abbey Road to launch campaign to tackle unemployment and isolation among young people with special needs!
Singers include Jordan, a kitchen assistant at Leigh-on-Sea Salvation Army, and Ryan, Paige and Mitchel from The Salvation Army’s Hadleigh Farm Estate.
Due to his dyspraxia, Jordan left school a shy and isolated teenager with a very unclear future. But following a work placement at Leigh-on-sea Salvation Army, Jordan was supported by The Salvation Army to gain qualifications in catering and offered a job as a kitchen assistant, preparing meals for Salvation Army day centre clients.
The Salvation Army needs to raise £2m to turn their plans for Strawberry Field into reality.
