Football Tournament Aims to Raise £50k for Local Homeless Charity

16 May Football Tournament Aims to Raise £50k for Local Homeless Charity

AJ Chambers, a Rochford based recruitment agency for accountancy and legal professionals, is holding a 7-a-side football tournament between 32 local businesses to help raise funds for HARP, Southend’s leading homelessness charity.

World Cup-on-Sea, which takes place on Saturday 21st May and is sponsored by local IT Support Services firm Couno, invites the local community to the iconic Southend United Football Ground, Roots Hall, to enjoy a fun-filled day of charitable competition, delicious food, and exciting activities for adults and kids alike. With a beat the goalie competition, face painting, superhero mascots, an amazing raffle, and more, the event will be a fantastic football day out for all the family.

Doors open at 8.30am, and the football tournament starts at 9am. Children’s activities begin from 10.30am, and the entire tournament is due to close by 3.30pm. Entry is £5 for adults, and kids go free. A discounted rate of £4 per adult is available by presenting a flyer which is available to download from www.worldcuponsea.com.

With help from supporters, World Cup-on-Sea 2022 is aiming to raise £50,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, and charitable donations for HARP Southend’s Homeless Charity. HARP help around 1,000 people every year who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness in Southend-on-Sea. They provide short and long-term accommodation, and crucial support to help local people overcome homelessness for good.

Jackie Bliss, Chief Executive of HARP, said: “We are so grateful to organisers AJ Chambers, sponsors Couno, and all of the 32 teams participating in World Cup-on-Sea 2022. We rely greatly on the support of the local community to fund our vital, life-saving work with local people affected by homelessness, and the money raised by our amazing business community at the event will help greatly in our mission to help every person in Southend who comes to us for support. Thank you so much to everyone involved!”

Andy Hilliard, Managing Director of AJ Chambers said: “it is vitally important for us to support the work of HARP in helping vulnerable people in the Southend area escape homelessness. I want to extend my thanks to all the local businesses who have entered a team and contributed towards our fundraising target. This is sure to be an excellent sporting event at the prestigious Roots Hall, and we are looking forward to seeing you all at World Cup-on-Sea 2022.”
