05 Apr Fitness Unfiltered podcast host Dan Osman to pull fitness stunt on Southend seafront
Fitness Unfiltered Podcast Host and Muscle & Fitness UK columnist Dan Osman is to pull a weighted sled for twenty-four hours along the Southend seafront next Wednesday, 10th April, in support of Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM): a leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
We’d love to invite you and your readers along to support Dan, and bear witness to this monumental feat! We’d also be happy to arrange an interview for you with Dan to talk about his own mental health journey, and the role exercise has played along it.
Already an experienced personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, CISSN sport and exercise nutritionist, and PhD Nutrition sponsored athlete, Dan has been training rigorously for four months in preparation for Wednesday’s event. He will burn approximately 12,000 calories during the entire event – the equivalent of over 4 marathons! – and will stop only for toilet breaks. At 100kg, the sled weighs just over the average man, and represents the emotional weight that many men carry throughout their lives: a cause close to Dan’s heart, having suffered himself from anxiety and depression.
With suicide the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK, the time has never been more right to speak up about men’s mental health, and to support organisations like CALM which offer supportive services to men and boys, their partners, friends and families, so that people feel empowered to share their experiences and get the help they need before they reach the point of crisis.
Dan will set off next Wednesday, 10th April, at twelve noon, and again, we’d be delighted to your support – whether that means being there in person, or news coverage (or both!), we feel that this is a truly worthwhile cause that is highly deserving of our time and attention.
