Roman Way offers six two-bedroom houses to purchase through shared ownership with priority given to borough residents and key workers and six private sale homes. Four, four beds and two, three beds for private sale.
Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Gavin Callaghan, said: “It’s fantastic to see these beautiful family homes become available to our key workers and residents as well as the three that have been made available for affordable rent. According to Rightmove Basildon is the most up-and-coming area in Essex in terms of house price rises in the last five years. Although it’s good that people are believing in Basildon as a place to settle down it’s important we do all we can as a local authority to help our residents into quality housing.
“We are taking a Basildon first approach to housing and have made a commitment to driving forward with similar projects so even more people get the opportunity to get on the property ladder and live and work in the borough.”
Sempra Homes Manager Melanie Keys added: “We are really proud of this development, which we have brought forward in close liaison with the Billericay School providing work placements and apprentice opportunities to borough residents. The development has achieved the Secure by Design Gold Standard, which is a police initiative to improve the security of the new homes and their immediate surroundings to provide safe places to live and visit.”
Sempra Homes, which was set up by Basildon Council as an independent company, is committed to delivering properties across the borough and will provide a variety of different tenures including affordable rent, shared ownership, market rent and market sale.
