Another of the winners, Dan Brady for the Local Hero Award, was nominated after his selfless efforts to look after elderly resident Eileen Cockburn throughout the COVID pandemic alongside his colleague and fellow award winner Kyli Nice. Both individuals, who work as PCSOs for Essex Police, were touched at their nomination from the public.

Dan Brady commented “I am so overwhelmed and truly grateful. I had no idea we were both put forward for this award. I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am approaching my 20 years service this coming January and it’s an honour serving the people of Basildon. I know we touched Eileen Cockburn’s heart in her final years, but she too lightened my life and forevermore remain part of the Police family. Thank you everyone!”
