07 Jun Family of rare disorder sufferer Maddi Thurgood appeal for support
The family of local youngster Maddi Thurgood who was diagnosed with an incredibly rare form of Motor Neurone Disease called SPG15 are appealing for more support to help them raise the £100,000 required to attempt to find a cure for the rare SPG15.
As well as the devastating effects of MND, this illness will also cause juvenile Parkinson’s disease. She will not be able to walk, use her arms, use her eyes or even swallow if something isn’t done soon.
Her mother Carina told us “We are trying to raise £100K to fund a gene therapy cure here in the UK to help Maddi and others. It is our only hope.”
