FAMILIES OF BRAINWAVE ENJOY FUN FILLED DAY AT THE BEACH

21 Sep FAMILIES OF BRAINWAVE ENJOY FUN FILLED DAY AT THE BEACH

On Saturday 3 September and Sunday 4 September three families supported by intu Lakeside’s charity of the year, Brainwave, enjoyed a fun-filled day at ‘The Beach’.

This summer, intu Lakeside partnered with Leisure Attractions to welcome its own beach where visitors could sit back and relax, surrounded by 150 tonnes of sand and a 21m lilo paddling pool as well as plenty of rides and attractions. Three families were given unlimited access to the fun of The Beach over the weekend as part of intu Lakeside’s on-going support for the charity.

During 2016, intu Lakeside has pledged to raise £25,000 for Brainwave, a local children’s charity that helps children with disabilities aged 0-12 years reach milestones with an individual therapy programme.

Emilia is one of the children who visited The Beach. Her mother commented: “We had a fantastic family day out at The Beach. The work that Brainwave does has changed our lives and I am so grateful for the opportunities that they have given us. The support that intu Lakeside is giving to Brainwave will help change the lives of many more children and I’m sure that like me, their parents will be extremely thankful.”

Ben Leeson, Marketing Manager at intu Lakeside, commented: “Here at intu Lakeside, our support for Brainwave doesn’t just end at the £25,000 that we have pledged to donate during 2016. A large number of our staff have also raised additional funds by taking part in their own fundraising activities including sporting activities, bake offs and donating items for the charity to auction off. By offering these families a day out, we hope that they could enjoy a relaxing day full of fun”.

Karen Betancourt-Jess, Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships at Brainwave, added: “We are so pleased that our families had the chance to enjoy The Beach at intu Lakeside. So far, intu Lakeside has gone above and beyond its pledge and for this, we and the families that they are supporting, are eternally grateful”.
