12 Dec Falklands veteran Simon Weston OBE enthuses Essex Chambers’ members
One of the highlights of Essex Chambers of Commerce’ events programme is the Annual County Lunch and this year’s event held at Stockbrook Manor, Billericay was no exception.
Guest speaker Simon Weston OBE gave Chamber members and guests a powerful and very moving account of his experiences in the Falklands War and the tragedy that occurred with the bombing of the Sir Galahad supply ship in 1982. Despite the massive burns and other injuries that he received he demonstrated how self-belief can help overcome adversity in all walks of life.
Speaking about the event Denise Rossiter, Chief Executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce, said “Our county lunch is always a highly enjoyable event but this year’s was more than that and I think I can truly say that we all came away feeling humbled, but at the same time inspired, by what Simon had to endure back in 1982 and how he successfully managed to rebuild his life”
“Whilst we will hopefully never have to experience the same trauma as him, we can all learn from Simon in how we deal with the challenges we face every day in our businesses and I am grateful to him for sharing his experiences with us”
