Essex-based artisan crisp brand Fairfields Farm has been announced as the winner of three coveted Great Taste Awards in this year’s highly competitive competition.
Known as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world, Fairfields Farm scooped three 1-star Gold Awards in 2021’s competition for its Fairfields Farm Lightly Sea Salted, Fairfields Farm Sweet Chilli, Fairfields Farm Adnams Ghost Ship.
Making its handcooked crisps in its purpose-built factory on its potato farm in Colchester, Essex, Fairfields Farm prides itself on producing the highest quality snacks made using renewable energy.
“We are incredibly proud to have been presented with four gold awards in The Great Taste Awards,” comments Laura Strathern, co-founder of Fairfields Farm. “The snack market is hugely competitive but we one of a small handful of UK producers that cooks crisps from home grown potatoes on the farm and I think that quality really comes through in our products.”
The Great Taste Awards is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards, with a panel of experts including chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers deciding which products will receive these accolades. The awards are a positive way to receive honest, impartial feedback on products from the best figures in the food and drink industry and the star prizes are the ultimate seal of approval.
During vigorous taste testing, the judges described Fairfields Farm Lightly Sea Salted as ‘An evenly-cut crisp, with a lovely crunchy texture. Seasoning is well distributed and just spot on, emphasising the underlying potato flavour while the Sweet Chilli was described as having ‘Real integrity, incredibly moreish…we couldn’t stop eating them.”
