The traditional eel and pie house, first established in 1862 is now open for private events such as birthdays, engagement parties, anniversaries, hen and stag do’s, christenings and family gatherings at its Flagship shop on Moulsham St, Chelmsford.
After the sell-out Cookes comedy nights by the signed comedian Josh James, plus a string of hugely successful parties where guests have danced all night long to DJ’s, enjoyed cocktails mixed by their in-house mixologist and celebrated in the stunning spacious venue, F. Cooke pie shop is turning into a party venue like no other.
Inside the classic yet modern venue, you’ll find white and green tiles that line the walls with original photos from Cookes on Broadway Market, Hackney. The warm venue with beautiful globe lights that fall from the ceiling can be decorated to suit the specific needs of each user. From balloon arches to DJ booths, children’s magicians, baby shower and gender reveal decorations, the venue prides itself on being a blank canvas ready to transform into the party of dreams.
With heritage and history of 160 years, guests can celebrate their special occasion under the roof of the oldest established pie and mash family in a unique, cool, quirky venue. Available with or without food, the fully stocked bar serves cocktails that leave you returning for more. Expect to find classic cosmos, espresso martinis and moreish margaritas, or send in your list of desired drinks in and you’ll be able to find just that on the night. You can book the venue with or without catering and if its pie and mash you want to treat your guests to, expect to enjoy what Cookes are famous for; the authentic east-end meal that’s made daily on the premises, from scratch, by hand.
F. Cooke will also be available for other businesses to hire with Blooms & Bouquets hosting a wreath making workshop on 7th December, and Bridie’s Cakes hosting an already sold-out cake making class in November. The Prim & Proper Cocktail Club have hosted cocktail nights with more scheduled for 2023. The venue is also host to filming if you’re an artist looking for a venue, as seen when DJ Tommy B shot his music video and more recently when Channel 5 shot a crime documentary based in East London, scheduled to air next year.
Robert Cooke says “The feedback from our private events has been exceptional so we’re excited to peruse this area of the business. Pie and mash is our bread and butter and that will never change, but with a wonderful large venue like ours, it would be a shame for others not to enjoy it and to have their special events here too.”
