16 Jul Explore nature during the summer holidays with Perrywood Garden Centre
This summer, Perrywood Garden Centre in Tiptree is inviting children to explore nature through a range of activities at its Garden Explorers sessions. Activities range from pond dipping and scavenger hunts through to getting creative with nature in art workshops.
Perrywood has designed the Garden Explorer sessions to provide educational fun for children, as well as teaching them a variety of gardening skills.
Taking place every Wednesday and Thursday during the school holidays, each session lasts for an hour and a half. This means plenty of time for parents to enjoy a child-free browse around the garden centre and a slice of cake and a cuppa whilst their little ones enjoy some nature filled fun with Perrywood’s team of experts.
Perrywood has been running its Garden Explorers sessions for six years and with each year getting bigger and better than before, it is no surprise that the activities continue to be popular with customers. Perrywood advises customers to book tickets early as they are likely to sell out fast.
Activities are suitable for children aged 4-10 years and the sessions have a different theme for each week of the holidays:
< 25 & 26 July – Creepy Crawlies – children will be learning all about pests and beneficial bugs in the garden – this session includes painting, crafting, planting and a group quiz
< 1 & 2 Aug– Art Workshop with local artist Lisa Temple Cox – Children will make a ‘Box of natural curiosities’
< 8 & 9 Aug – Weird and Wacky plants – We will learn all about carnivorous plants, unusual succulents and make a miniature garden
< 15 & 16 Aug – Pond Dipping and senses scavenger hunt –with Lucy Willis from the Essex Wildlife Trust
< 22 & 23 Aug – Making art out of nature We will spend the time outdoors if the weather is good, exploring nature and getting creative
