14 Jul Essex youngsters take on 5k run to raise money for local charity
Ten boys in Year 9 at Emerson Park Academy in Hornchurch, Essex, are challenging themselves to run 5k to help raise money towards granting a dream for local children’s charity The Dream Factory. The Dream Factory grants dreams to children and young adults between the age of 3 to 25 years, who suffer from life-threatening, life-limiting conditions or have severe disabilities. To date, they have granted over 490 dreams and their aim is to grant their 500th dream before the end of 2020.
Jacob is 5 years old and suffered HIE grade 3 brain damage due to serious complications at birth, which resulted in Jacob being resuscitated for 22 minutes. Jacob was given 1% survival rate because of the amount of damage to his brain, but 5 years on, he has defied the doctors and is able to walk, talk and even ride a bike.
Jacob dreams of one day being able to go to Disneyland Paris with his family, so they can create some truly wonderful memories and with the help of the ten Year 9 boys who attend Emerson Park Academy, Jacob’s dream could soon be a reality.
One of the young boys involved, Harrison Whitehead said, “We all go to Emerson Park Academy and are in Year 9, when we heard about the charity trying to grant Jacob’s dream and their 500th dream challenge, we really wanted to help raise money towards granting the dream”.
Together with your help, the boys can make Jacob’s Dream a very special memory for him and his family, so please help the boys reach their target and sponsor them today http://www.justgiving.com/JacobsDisneyParisDream
