26 Jan Essex & Suffolk Water mucks in with Maldon Mud Race
Essex & Suffolk Water will be a major sponsor for the 2018 Maldon Mud Race – the world famous fun run that has become an institution in the region and helps raise thousands for charity each year.
2018 will mark the first year that the water company has supported the event, which attracts around 20,000 attendees and sees 300 brave entrants race across the mud of the River Blackwater. This year’s Maldon Mud Race takes place on Sunday 10 June.
Images of runners covered head to toe in mud, many in fancy dress, have been seen across the world in recent years, making it one of Essex’s most popular annual events.
A team from Essex & Suffolk Water have already signed up to take part in the race, and will be raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND).
Essex & Suffolk Water supplies drinking water services to 1.8 million people.
The company’s Essex supply area is part rural and part urban and includes Chelmsford, Southend and the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. The Suffolk supply area is mainly rural with the largest towns being Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
