19 Dec Essex Police welcomes 28 new Inspectors
Twenty-eight Inspectors were formally welcomed into post by our Chief Constable at a special ceremony at our HQ in Chelmsford on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
After a rigorous selection process, twenty officers were promoted to Inspector after proving they have what it takes to lead teams to deliver excellent public service.
Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh led the ceremony alongside Deputy Chief Constable Matthew Horne, where new Inspector pips were presented to each officer. The ceremony was a celebration of the hard work these officers have put in over the years to develop themselves.
Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh, said: “My legacy won’t be the crime numbers of today, it’ll be the quality of the recruits and their leadership. I ask more of my officers than any other Chief Constable. Only this week we have seen officers challenged with knives and a gun. They are leading policing at a very difficult time and they are the best leaders for the future.”
Human Resources Project Manager, Rachel Evans, has been pivotal in developing the selection process to help promote officers that champion valuing and supporting people. She said: “The Promotion process is designed to ensure we select the right people to lead our teams to deliver our policing priorities.
“This inspector board saw a cohort come through who really valued supporting and looking after people, so we can deliver an excellent service to the public.”
