21 Jun Essex Police officers have helped drive the safety campaign

A pair of police officers have helped drive their force’s safety campaign message home – after prompting a barrage of comments over how attractive they were.

Sergeant Kayleigh Webster and PC Daryl Jones were snapped inside an Essex Police squad car as part of as campaign to promote safer driving on Facebook.

Hundreds of people were quick to ‘like’ the photo while many left suggestive comments complimenting their appearance.

The Facebook post said: ‘Sergeant Kayleigh Webster and Pc Daryl Jones took time out before a routine patrol to promote #saferdriving with this #seatbeltselfie in #Southend this afternoon.’

It didn’t prompt quite the reaction the police were likely hoping for but the campaign was certainly noticed by the public.

Local Alice Edwards wrote: ‘PC Darryl Jones is fit as anything. I’d love to be arrested by him.’

Melanie Grice wrote: ‘I’m going out to get arrested tonight.’

Sian Towns said: ‘So we need to go Southend for a night out and drink irresponsibly so PC Jones can put me in cuffs.’

Another, unnamed Facebook poster said: ‘Daryl can handcuff me anytime!!!’, with another Samantha Colli writing simply ‘Swooooon!’.

Abel Gálvez Sanz wrote: ‘OMG look at that guy! I fell in love!’ and Lisa Wright wrote: ‘Ding Dong Daryl.’
