24 May Essex pensioner jailed for historic sex abuse of two girls under the age of 13
A man from Wivenhoe has been jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to 10 child sex offences.
Essex Police were called on February 28, 2017, after allegations of sexual assault were made against Dennis Bullard regarding offences in the 1980s and 1990s which related to two children under the age of 13.
Dennis Bullard, 73, of Chaney Road, Wivenhoe, was arrested in March 2017 and later charged.
A spokeswoman for the NSPCC in the East of England said: “Bullard’s crimes have finally caught up with him thanks to the bravery of the victims he sickeningly abused when they were vulnerable young girls.”
“It is vital that children are able to recognise and report abuse, which is why the NSPCC spoke to more than 50,000 primary school children in Essex last year as part of its Speak Out Stay Safe service.”
Adult survivors of non-recent abuse can contact the NSPCC Helpline for support. Children can contact Childline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 0800 1111 or by visiting www.childline.org.uk.
