23 Sep ESSEX LOTTERY MILLIONAIRES ROAD TEST THE MILLIONAIRE LIFETSYLE
A couple from Essex who won £3m in January 2016 are celebrating their graduation from The National Lottery Mega Millionaire Academy.
The pair, Sue Richards and Barry Maddox joined other recent lottery winners from across the UK for a series of master classes delivered by a host of lifestyle experts. As EuroMillions will make double the number of UK millionaires when the game changes from 24 September (first draw Tuesday 27 September), the one-off academy gathered expert knowledge to guide future jackpot winners in their quest to fulfil their millionaire ‘bucket list’.
Whether it is demystifying posh restaurant menus or chartering a private jet, Sue and Barry are now set and their input will help perfect the advice available to future EuroMillions winners.
Speaking from the event at an exclusive London venue, Sue said:
“Ever since our win in January we’ve been enjoying experiences we never dreamt possible, from buying our dream home to taking exotic holidays, it’s been amazing. There have been occasions where we’ve come a little unstuck so to have this team of professionals from the world of the rich and famous giving us advice has been great, and lots of fun to boot.”
With cars, often a new winners first extravagance, the former Grand Prix driver and Top Gear presenter, Tiff Needell was on hand providing insight to the dos and don’ts of the high end car market. Other experts included Cassidy Dart, Director of Wine from Pol Roger, who led the class in a Champagne serving and tasting session; gift wrapper to the stars Neelam Meetcha who dispensed advice on gift wrapping large and unusual gifts, including a practical session on how to gift wrap a Range Rover, and celebrity stylist, Zoe Tilston who offered helpful tips on what to wear for those private jet journeys or significant social events.
Commenting on the Mega Millionaire Academy, Sue said:
“Winning the lottery has opened numerous doors for us, and our family, and it’s great to know that as more people join this wonderful ‘club’ every week they too will be able to open those doors.
“Our involvement in the Millionaire Academy will certainly help us in the future. It’s not that we drink vintage Champagne every day, but it’s nice to know when you are! Never did we think we’d get some top tips from the Director of Wine at a prestigious Champagne house or the inside line on the best sports car in the £250,000 plus price bracket. What a day, what an experience”
Hosting the event was The National Lottery’s most Senior Winners’ Advisor who has years of experience in helping new millionaires make a smooth transition into the millionaire lifestyle. Andy Carter said: “There has long been a fascination with the UKs biggest lottery winners – what do they do straight away after the win? Most people have a ‘to do’ list for that jackpot winning moment and as a new millionaire, you can afford to act on your wildest dreams.
“My team pay out the win, can arrange a panel of financial experts and provide a huge degree of support from experience of making over 4,250 millionaires, but I have never had to work out how to hire a private jet or how you gift wrap a car as a present! Sue and Barry’s input has been invaluable because they will ensure that we provide a tried and tested guide which will help winners enjoy their life changing win as soon as it is in the private bank”
EuroMillions tickets will go on sale on Saturday 24 September, with the first draw taking place on Tuesday 27 September. There will be at least two guaranteed UK millionaires in every draw through the UK Millionaire Maker – that’s a minimum of 208 guaranteed UK millionaires a year, double the current number. There will also be more spectacular events on the last Friday and Tuesday of every month. To make these changes possible, the number of Lucky Stars from which players can choose will expand from 11 to 12. The cost per line will also change to £2.50.
