ESSEX HOUSING ASSOCIATION TAKES MANAGEMENT OF 100TH LEGAL & GENERAL AFFORDABLE HOME

03 Feb ESSEX HOUSING ASSOCIATION TAKES MANAGEMENT OF 100TH LEGAL & GENERAL AFFORDABLE HOME

Essex-based housing association CHP has taken management of the 100th new property as part of its partnership with Legal & General Affordable Homes (LGAH).

The 100th home to be handed over is a four-bedroom house for shared ownership located at the Newhall development in Harlow. It is one of 13 properties at the development that CHP will take management for this month, with another 12 to follow over the next year. They will all be available for either shared ownership or social rent.

CHP is one of 14 organisations chosen nationwide to manage properties built by LGAH. The partnership represents a shared vision that a well-built and well-maintained affordable home is the cornerstone of a healthy and good quality of life.

The first handover of new homes from LGAH to CHP took place in January 2020, with 30 properties at the Renovo development in Thurrock. Since then a number of homes have been moved into CHP management including affordable properties in Chelmsford, Southminster and Bury St Edmunds.

The 100 homes delivered through the partnership so far include a range of property types to suit different needs. All of them have been for shared ownership or affordable rent and have contributed to CHP’s goal of helping to meet local housing need.

Kate Franklin, Chief Operating Officer said: “We are incredibly proud to have now taken management of over 100 new homes thanks to our partnership with Legal & General Affordable Homes.

“We are committed to addressing the shortfall of quality affordable homes in our region, so it’s great to be working with a like-minded partner like Legal & General to help deliver on this. As managers of these new properties we will do everything we can to provide the highest level of service to the customers who move into these homes.”
