23 Dec ESSEX HOMEBUILDER RAISES OVER £48,000 FOR GOSH CHARITY
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) has received a donation of more than £48,000 from Chelmsford-based Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties.
The developer selected the London-based hospital and charity as its charity of the year in January and, after 12 months of fundraising, has now presented a cheque for £48,679 to the charity.
GOSH Charity supports the hospital’s most urgent needs, funding pioneering research into children’s health, vital support services for children and their families, state-of-the-art medical equipment and essential rebuilding and refurbishment of hospital facilities.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes has arranged a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year; the most notable being a walk that raised over £16,000, a golf day which brought in £11,000 and a football tournament that added more than £4,500 to the total.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ £48,679 donation to GOSH Charity also included match-funding from its parent company, Barratt Developments.
The leading housebuilder was also able to get Priti Patel MP involved in its fundraising who, following the charity walk, completed 1,588 steps of her own on a visit to the Mortimer Place development in Hatfield Peverel. As a result, Barratt and David Wilson Homes added another £8,000 to the total.
Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed fundraising for GOSH Charity throughout 2023. Not only have we had fun along the way, we’ve raised a fantastic amount of money for such a worthwhile cause.
“We’re proud of everyone in the team who has contributed to the fundraising efforts. Our £48,679 donation will go a long way for the charity and it’s credit to collective determination.”
