A Chelmsford-based housebuilder has hosted a charity football tournament to raise money for Barth Syndrome UK (BSUK).
The event – which took place on Monday 10th October at Chelmsford Football Club –was run by leading homebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes, which was joined by a number of residential housing developers and key stakeholders taking part in the match tournaments on the day.
Sponsored by premium partnerships housebuilder Stonebond, 39 matches were held at the event on the day followed by food, speeches, games and an award ceremony.
More than £4,600 was raised on the day for the charity, which operates across the country and supports patients and families suffering with Barth Syndrome, a rare condition characterised by an enlarged and weakened heart.
The charity also funds research into treatment for the condition, with a goal to eventually find a cure.
Ralph Easterbrook, Trustee at Barth Syndrome UK, said: “We at Barth Syndrome UK are delighted and honoured to be Barratt’s nominated charity; every penny raised will be put to best use in our mission of saving lives and finding a cure for Barth Syndrome.
“Many, many thanks to all of those involved in the setting up and running of this and other related events. It is hugely welcomed and appreciated.”
Edd Cherry, Innovation and Communications Director at Stonebond, said: “With our own headquarters based in Chelmsford, we were delighted to join up with Barratt and David Wilson Homes to support this local fundraising initiative.
“A significant amount of money was raised for a really important cause, and it was great fun for colleagues to have a kickabout with their fellow housebuilding professionals!”
