11 Oct Essex garden recognised among best in the country
A gardener in Mount Bures has been awarded second place in a national competition to find the best gardens in the country.
The Gardeners’ Garden competition was launched earlier this year by Garden Answers magazine and leading gardening equipment brand, Cobra. The results have been announced and Sarah Rayner in Mount Bures came in second place.
Sarah was visited by judges in July. The panel included gardening writer and broadcaster, Martin Fish; editor of Garden Answers, Liz Potter; Liz Chaloner from Cobra; and George Plumptre, chief executive of the National Garden Scheme (the NGS).
The judges were taken by Sarah’s use of space and design in her creations of “rooms” that flowed through the entire garden. The garden features both formal and informal planting areas that are joined by a series of imaginative pathways that lead to decking areas and framed vistas to maximise the stunning views.
The judges noted that “it is an elegant gardens with creative features that add personality.”
