Leading housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, based in Chelmsford, has successfully completed the construction of 392 new homes in the region in the last financial year, contributing over £83 million to the overall economic output of the UK.

These accomplishments are detailed in a recent report that assesses the social and economic impact of the property developer in the east of England during the previous fiscal year (1st July 2022 to 30th June 2023).

Throughout this period, the company erected homes across various developments in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

The report outlines the company’s socio-economic influence, providing key statistics related to its support for the property construction supply chain, local communities, the environment, public services, and employment. The findings indicate that the property developer:

Directly and indirectly supported 1,135 jobs through its contractors and suppliers.
Collaborated with 210 subcontractor companies and 284 supplier companies.
Established 7.2 hectares of green space in the area for both residents and the general public to enjoy.
Locally contributed £900,000 through its Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106 contributions.
Invested £24.8 million in physical improvements benefiting local communities, including enhancements to highways, environmental upgrades, and community facilities.
Donated £73,300 to charitable organisations through company donations, employee fundraising and supplier sponsorship.
