23 Jul Essex County Fire and Rescue Service launch on-call firefighter recruitment drive
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has launched a new website for future on-call firefighters.
join.essex-fire.gov.uk provides future recruits with information about the role, fitness advice and a portal to apply online.
Boldly challenging stereotypes around what a modern day firefighter looks like, the site answers questions such as ‘Am I strong enough?’ and ‘Isn’t it a man’s job?’.
It also answers the usual queries around exactly what an-on call firefighter does, how their pay works and how it fits alongside a day job.
A complete list of recruiting stations gives applicants the chance to find out more about their local station and any events going on.
The website was originally created for the whole time firefighter recruitment drive which took place earlier this year, and has now been expanded to include on-call recruitment too.
On-call firefighters have everyday lives and jobs, until their pager sounds; then they immediately make their way to the fire station. They are professional firefighters, on the front line, saving lives. They are paid employees and receive thorough training to enable them to respond to and deal with emergency situations.
