23 Oct Essex County Council secure £9m to tackle congestion
More than £9 million has been secured by Essex County Council to tackle congestion and improve key routes in Essex.
The key infrastructure funding was announced by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling last and offers a huge boost for those who use the M11 and A120, as well as other surrounding roads.
£4.09 million has been promised by the Department for Transport towards a £10 million scheme to upgrade Junction 8 on the M11. This key junction can often become a pinch point for commuters and holidaymakers using the M11, A120 and nearby London Stansted Airport.
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Deputy Leader for Essex County Council, said: “This funding will give a huge boost to regional economic growth along what are key routes for so many people who travel in and around Essex.”
He added “This funding will change the lives of thousands of people not only in Essex, but across the country.”
