Essex Coast is top place to be says Coast Magazine

04 Dec Essex Coast is top place to be says Coast Magazine

Leading consumer magazine, Coast has named Essex coastal locations as top places to be in 2024.

The luxury travel publication has placed Tollesbury’s beautiful swirling saltmarshes and the iconic red lightship on its latest glossy calendar. This January an aerial shot of the stunning estuarine landscape will find its way onto the walls of coast-loving homes across the country. It’s a move that the county’s tourism organisation, Visit Essex, believes will help attract further tourists to its coastline.

Councillor Mark Durham, Chairman of Visit Essex, remarks: “Essex has a beautiful coastline, from sandy beaches, meandering estuaries to rugged cliffs, the county has it all! I’m really pleased to see our coastline represented in Coast’s spectacular calendar amongst all the nation’s most well-known tourist destinations, such as Brighton Pier and Lyme Regis.”

Coast magazine also listed Mersea Island in its round-up of must-see destinations for 2024. The much-loved seaside spot made the short list thanks to its pastel-coloured beach huts, mix of country walks, sailing and water sports. The island is also known as a great place for families to go crabbing. Naturally, oysters and fresh fish also helped Mersea become one of the ‘must-visit’ locations for 2024.

Essex boasts a 350-mile coastline and is home to the well-known seaside towns of Southend-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze, Frinton and Clacton-on-Sea. It also offers off the beaten track places for visitors to enjoy, such as secluded sandy beaches and dramatic wild landscapes. The county’s coastline has recently been used as a top film location and has brought Hollywood A-listers to its shores.
