02 Aug Essex Chambers of Commerce and Maldon District Council’s Big Business Network Launch hailed a success
The Essex Chambers are well versed at hosting networking events and we know that there’s no better way to make the right contacts than through networking. When Maldon District Council and their Sense of Place Board approached us to join forces and start the Big Business Network – we jumped at the chance!
Maldon has a huge rural business community and the purpose of the Big Business Network is to attract and support this community within the county’s greater business network.
The launch of the network was held on July 28 at Forrester Park and was great success with over 70 people in attendance. The event was opened by Denise Rossiter – CEO of the Essex Chambers of Commerce, and supported by Jack Ellum – Strategic Theme Lead – Prosperity at Maldon District Council and Charlie Fillingham – Chairman of Maldon Sense of Place. This was followed by our guest speaker, the Chief Constable of Essex Police – BJ Harrington who spoke about Essex Polices’ support for the local business community and their aim to help businesses prosper safely and keep themselves, their customers and staff safe and free from crime.

Jack Ellum, Strategic Theme Lead – Prosperity at Maldon District Council said “We are pleased to be working with Essex Chambers of Commerce to help support business networking in the Maldon District. The Chamber provides an important voice for businesses across Essex and we want to make sure local businesses are a part of this.
We want to create an environment that enables businesses to arrive, survive and thrive in the district. By working in partnership with Sense of Place and bringing local business leaders together, we can enable better communication, access to opportunities, business support and local projects that all support our business community. Events like this are a great opportunity to do this.”
Charlie Fillingham – Chairman of Maldon Sense of Place added “It was great to meet so many businesses in one room. I hope that we can discuss the purpose of Maldon Sense of Place in supporting local companies in the future.”
