03 Apr Essex Chambers and Braintree MP visit local businesses
Essex Chambers of Commerce took Braintree MP James Cleverley, who sits on the House of Commons’ International Trade Select Committee, to visit some of their key businesses and find out more about the opportunities and challenges facing companies in the wake of the country’s decision to leave the European Union.
Speaking about the visit Essex Chambers’ Chief Executive Denise Rossiter said “International trade is a key area of our work to support the county’s businesses so I welcomed the opportunity to take James and meet some of our major businesses so he can find out first-hand what they are thinking about the opportunities and challenges facing exporters and importers in the coming months and years ahead”
Starting at DP World’s London Gateway container terminal at Stanford Le Hope the visit moved on to electronics company Leonardo at Basildon and finished with PMS International, also in Basildon.
Denise added “Having had James speak at a dinner in the House of Commons for some of our members about the future of exports post Brexit this was an excellent opportunity to follow that up by letting him see for himself how businesses in the county are planning for the future”
