31 Oct Essex Broker Inspired to Support Local Kids Charity
The head of Chelmsford-based Ascend Broking’s charity division has been instrumental in launching the insurance specialist’s own efforts in aid of its chosen supported charity for 2021 and 2022, Kids Inspire.
Stuart Belbin was tasked with finding a suitable charity for the award-winning insurance brokerage to support, with charitable work having been at the heart of the brokerage’s corporate policies ever since its foundation.
Internal suggestions led Ascend down the route of looking at charities that would make a difference to the lives of local children and families, particularly at Christmas time. Having initially looked for a cause that could give a child a great Christmas, research led to Ascend finding one, right on its doorstep, which does much more than that.
Kids Inspire assisted 4054 individuals last year alone, thanks to the efforts of 222 volunteers. The charity provides mental health and trauma recovery support for children, young people and their families, by offering a range of therapeutic and community activities, promoting resilience, raising self-awareness, and building family relationships, which are the foundations for more positive life choices.
The charity (registered charity 1129513) was founded by Sue Bell, who noted a lack of support for children who are victims of distress, abuse and neglect. Her aim was to engineer a positive intervention for such children, before they engaged in criminal or dangerous activities, which emanate from previous traumas in their lives.
Over the past 13 years, Kids Inspire has provided intensive therapy treatments, built up children’s self-esteem, supported parents and helped them meet the needs of their children, and engaged in education and learning-focused activities. Providing therapies, coaching and mentoring, and helping to create healthy family routines, has become second nature.
The Ascend Broking team has set a target of £3000 to raise during the rest of 2021 and 2022 and is ready to engage in challenges, organise fundraising initiatives and attend charity events staged by Kids Inspire. All are confident this target can be smashed and are determined to give that mission everything, having learned of the fantastic work Kids Inspire carries out.
Stuart Belbin says: “We are all super-motivated to make a difference through the work of Kids Inspire. Our local community means so much to us and we want the next generation to emerge from childhood feeling strong, mentally and physically fit and ready to achieve great things in life. These are attributes that Kids Inspire can help give to the children they work with and we know that, by supporting this inspiring charity, we can play our part too.”
