14 Apr Essex-based housing association receives grant for energy efficient homes
Essex-based housing association CHP has been awarded a grant from the government’s Wave 2.2 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).
The funding, which was announced on 18 March, has been offered to 42 local authorities and housing associations to deliver warm and energy efficient homes to lift people out of fuel poverty and improve their comfort and wellbeing.
CHP was awarded £604,000 which they’ll match with their own funds and will be used to raise the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band to C or above on 100 of its homes. CHP worked with SERO, who are experts in implementing Net Zero strategies, to identify the homes that will benefit from the improvements. The fund will help to increase the energy performance and efficiency of a home by making improvements such as installing insulation, double glazing and heat pumps where appropriate.
Thomas Kearney, CHP’s Homes and Places Director, said: “We’re really pleased that our bid for the SHDF was successful. This is a great opportunity for us to continue to invest in our homes and meet one of our key corporate strategy targets of reducing customers’ energy consumption and ensuring we have safe and well-maintained homes.”
CHP’s works to improve their homes will begin shortly and is expected to be finished in 2026.
