Essex based author, Fiona L Brown, has released her first book ‘Green Onions’ to 5* reviews. Published by independent publishing house, Audacious Voices, Brown delivers a pacey, emotional and undiluted look at life in London as a young woman.
Set in the early noughties, music from across various era’s is the thread that runs through ‘Green Onions’ binding together an honest take on relationships and friendships from the perspective of a female 20-something new to the big city. Brown brings to life the soul-searching questions that we so often strive to find the answers to when trying to make a life for yourself as an adult.
Brown says ‘Green Onions will connect with young women everywhere because ultimately it’s a story about what it is to be human, what it is to not really feel as though you fit in and what it is to be in love with someone who doesn’t really love you back and how that affects a person on a very human level’.
‘As an Author, Writer and Doctoral Researcher, my fascination with the female perspective on stories and narrative is endless’ says Brown. ‘My PhD research and Masters degree thesis have focused on uncovering female voice and discovering how best it can be utilised to represent the genuine female experience. ‘Green Onions’ is the exploration and amalgamation of the experiences of so many women, including myself, with a generous dose of self-reflection turned into fiction for the purposes of the book. I hope women can recognise themselves in it and understand the power they hold to make decisions about themselves, their lives, their sexuality and their desires from a truly female perspective’.
Green Onions is 160 pages and is available now in ebook and paperback on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
