Following an encounter with Maximillion Crooked, Imogen Hackerton, daughter of a congressman and great-great-great-granddaughter of the infamous Hacker the Horrible, is drawn into a web of blackmail and deceit.
Imogen tells Maximillion of an ancient, haunted asylum and the belief it contains a hidden fortune. Sam Scott lives in Essex with her husband, two grown-up sons and four cats. She has been writing for many years, mainly for children, encouraging learning through fiction by combining real-life subjects, people and places. Away from writing Sam enjoys training in the gym and practicing yoga. This is her first young adult horror novel.
Sam says, “I grew up living close to an old asylum and always wondered what it would be like living in a place like that. As an adult, I moved into an ancient, haunted Tudor house, where I witnessed many paranormal investigations and medium meetings. Over the years, I have learned a huge amount about the supernatural world, which has given me great experience with things that go bump in the night. I now live in a bungalow with a long central corridor and the idea for the story came to me when I recognised how many internal doors were contained in such close proximity.”
