11 May Essex author named finalist in Santorini Film Festival 2020
Santorini Film Festival has announced author Rebecca Hall, as a finalist in the Best Screenplay department of the 2020 festival.
The script is based on the author’s debut travel memoir Girl Gone Greek, and brings iconic scenes from the novel to life yet in a present day setting.
Rebecca Hall, Author of Girl Gone Greek said: “I feel honoured to be shortlisted at the Santorini Film Festival, in the very country that ‘Girl Gone Greek’ seeks to positively represent. My dream is to one day see my novel on the big screen which is no small feat – I believe this is a good start.”
In addition to being a finalist in the 2020 Santorini Film Festival, in 2019 Girl Gone Greek received recognition as a finalist in the script category at the North European Film Festival and was the Official Selection at the International Filmmaker Awards, London for the Best Unproduced Script.
In 2018 Girl Gone Greek was named Winner of Best Feature Fiction Script at the London Greek Film Festival and received an Honourable Mention at the Los Angeles Movie Awards.
The award ceremony is set to take place in Santorini in August 2020.
