EQUIPMAKE TO SHOWCASE CUTTING-EDGE AEROSPACE ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN AT LCV-CENEX

01 Sep EQUIPMAKE TO SHOWCASE CUTTING-EDGE AEROSPACE ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN AT LCV-CENEX

Equipmake, the UK-based engineering specialist pioneering the development and production of electrification products across the automotive, aerospace, bus, coach, and marine industries, will be showcasing its cutting-edge aerospace-specific electric powertrain at LCV-Cenex, taking place at Millbrook on 6th and 7th September.

Utilising its expertise in advanced electrification technology, Equipmake has implemented its proprietary rotor design and used Halbach array technology to deliver significant performance and efficiency benefits.

The development of Equipmake’s electric powertrain has supported the business’ significant and rapid growth in the aerospace sector, with partnerships already underway to supply leading aerospace companies. In recent months, Equipmake has begun working with leading electric aerospace propulsion company H55 to provide best-in-class motors and motor controller for use in electric aircraft.

The collaboration sees Equipmake and H55 partner on a production-ready, certified Electric Propulsion System (EPS), with Equipmake supplying its lightweight, power dense,
high-performance state-of-the art electric motors for use in electric aircraft. Certification is planned for end of 2024.

Equipmake was chosen for its expertise in advanced electrification technology and rapid manufacturing and will support H55 on its customer program with aircraft manufacturer BRM AERO, on the Bristell B23 Energic aircraft, a two-seater electric trainer designed for flight schools and pilot training, as the project advances from prototype development to full manufacturing.

Equipmake has also recently partnered with Vertical Aerospace to deliver cutting-edge electric propulsion units (EPU) for its VX4 eVTOL prototype, which recently completed the first-ever
full-scale untethered eVTOL flights in the UK. The prototype featured a bespoke EPU from Equipmake, combining a lightweight, power-dense electric motor with a high-performance inverter.

Ian Foley, CEO, Equipmake, said: “We’re very much looking forward to unveiling our
cutting-edge aerospace technology at LCV-Cenex this September. As the aviation sector electrifies, our high performance, lightweight electric powertrain fulfils the unique requirements this industry demands. We are ready to build on existing partnerships with further agreements in the coming months and years.”

Equipmake, led by former F1 engineer Ian Foley, has built its reputation on developing state-of-the-art EV technology, delivering a range of electrification solutions. From electric motors to complete EV powertrains, Equipmake’s technology provides high-performance, sustainable solutions to the aviation, marine, mining, off-highway and aerospace sectors.
