by Matthew Martino
Where do you go when you log on to the internet? Do you book your theatre tickets online? Perhaps you do your shopping, or study, or meet up with friends?
Everything you need is just a finger-tip away.
The Nether is a virtual wonderland, a total sensory immersion. Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire, but when a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation in to the darkest corners of the imagination.
After it’s London premiere in 2014 and a successful run in London’s West End, Full Circle Theatre are bringing this emotionally charged, ethically challenging play, to the Dixon Theatre.
Set in the near future The Nether explores our relationship with the dark side of the internet, and asks whether our virtual lives should remain private, beyond the reach of real-world law. Even in a virtual world, can we ever lead a life without consequence..?
