Leading regional law firm Ellisons has announced the purchase of one of Farleigh Hospice’s Buzz in the City art trail bee sculptures.
The art trail, which brought a swarm of giant, artist-designed bee sculptures to Chelmsford this summer, transformed the city’s streets, parks and landmarks with vibrant large and mini bees. Each sculpture was sponsored or designed by members of the local community and individually decorated before being auctioned to raise important funds for Farleigh Hospice, which provides compassionate care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Ellisons purchased one of the bee sculptures, ‘Chelmsford From Above’ at the charity auction which has now taken up permanent residence in the reception area of the firm’s newly opened Chelmsford office. The chosen bee was designed by Rachael and Phillippa Corcutt with support from St Cedd’s School.
Andrew Fernandes, Partner at Ellisons commented: “Buzz in the City was a fantastic celebration of creativity and community spirit across Chelmsford. When we saw the bee, it immediately stood out as it included all the key local landmarks of the City. It is great to give this sculpture a home in our new office and support Farleigh Hospice in the vital work it delivers for the people of Chelmsford and the surrounding locality.”
Jacqui Shannon, Fundraising Partnership Officer at Farleigh Hospice, added: “We are so pleased that Ellisons has given one of our Buzz in the City sculptures a long-term home. It is wonderful to see the bee welcomed into a local business that shares our commitment to care and community, while raising much-needed funds for the hospice.”
