Witham customers are set to benefit from a major redevelopment of the station.
The works at this busy station on the Great Eastern Main Line, which had 1.9m passenger entries and exits in 2024-25, will deliver a raft of improvements including:
a new, more accessible ticket office relocated from Albert Road to the Easton Road side of the station and 200 new cycle spaces
a newly constructed two-storey station building with a new, modern entrance on the Easton Road side of the station
a greener station with new energy-efficient lighting and solar panels on the roof of the new building, lowering the station’s carbon footprint
automatic ticket gatelines installed for the first time at both station entrances, along with their enabling works, thanks to funding from the Department for Transport
new retail units
a refreshed entrance on the Albert Road side of the station
Staff working at the station and from nearby areas will also have new offices available on the first floor.
The project is being undertaken in partnership with Walker Construction.
To help facilitate the work, there will be a temporary reduction in parking spaces at Witham station, from Monday 7 September 2026 until the end of 2027.
Alternative car parking is available at Hatfield Peverel station and at Beaulieu Park station (car park B, with accessible spaces available in car park A), while the work takes place.

“Witham station is set to be redeveloped, bringing a host of benefits to customers, with a new, more accessible ticket office, automatic ticket gates installed for the first time, solar panels, new lighting, and space for new retail units, along with 200 new cycle spaces.
“While the project is underway, we will need to temporarily reduce the number of car parking spaces available at Witham station. Alternative parking is available at Hatfield Peverel and Beaulieu Park stations.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and thank our customers for their patience and understanding while this redevelopment work takes place.”
