Disney Collaborates With Ocean Bottle to Launch Limited-edition ‘The Little Mermaid’ Capsule Product

30 May Disney Collaborates With Ocean Bottle to Launch Limited-edition ‘The Little Mermaid’ Capsule Product

To celebrate the release of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, in cinemas 26th May, Ocean Bottle has created a limited-edition One World. One Ocean reusable bottle available from 23rd May via the Ocean Bottle online store. More than just a water vessel, this bottle’s vibrant blue colour represents the ocean, its marine life and the people who help nurture it.

This campaign will seek to highlight the importance of the ocean, celebrating the world’s seas and also drawing on the themes of representation and inclusivity within this space. Every Ocean Bottle sold stops the equivalent of 1000 plastic bottles from reaching the ocean.

Another part of the campaign sees Ocean Bottle, Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Swim England join forces to challenge some of the obstacles and barriers that prevent people in the UK from learning to swim. For example, Swim England, identified a clear disparity of swimming abilities when analysed by ethnicity – whilst 14% of white communities cannot swim 25m, this increases to 49% within ethnically diverse communities. The three brands have created a co-branded film – “One World. One Ocean” – that explores the stories of diverse community groups as they express their love of water and highlights the importance of representation in the ocean and aquatic communities.

To support this, Ocean Bottle and Disney will contribute to Swim England to help train new swimming teachers over the next three years, providing over 16,000 swimming lesson opportunities with the aim of providing better community inclusion at swimming pools across the country.

Will Pearson, Co-Founder & CEO of Ocean Bottle said, “This unique collaboration will reflect the fusion of two worlds united over the importance of representation. The ocean needs our help, uniting all perspectives and championing representation, establishing it as a diverse, equitable space that we can treasure for generations to come.”

The Little Mermaid marks the first live-action adaptation of the Disney animated film, which was originally released in 1989. The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
